Civilizations are built on stories.
Stories captivate us and shape the perception of our reality. Using stories, we can pass down vital information from generation to generation. But is this the story we want to create and leave behind for our future selves and generations to come?
This is a state of waste!
At the dawn of the 20th century, human civilization was proud and flourishing towards its 'supposed' evolution in various aspects of life. It was the age of the 'great acceleration. Abundant access to fossil energy, the discovery of electricity, the invention of cars and the efforts put in to make these available to most turned nights into days. We found a way to fly in aluminum tin boxes, transport ourselves in metal wagons from one place to the other and so much more. We had cracked the technique to mass-produce, do large scalefarming, production & create millions of products which we use now daily.
Urbanization has become a key factor affecting the health of the earth and its natural systems. Across the world, we tend to have little concern about where the resources we use, originate from & where our waste end's up. Our collective consumerism has become the main interface between humans & nature. Our actions are currently turning inherently renewable systems - soils, forests, water channels, coral reefs into non-renewable systems.
These impacts need to be vigorously and positively addressed. When you look deeper, you will find that most products that we use daily are fundamentally made, packaged, or dressed using either of the following materials at the core - Plastics, Various Metals, Glass & chemicals (for example batteries).

Waste is a perception problem.
The technological advancements during the first two decades of the 21st century shifted something dramatically in the global society - Our 'psyche' & how we engage with our built environment.
Humans have been the dominant force shaping and engineering the planet for our own needs, wants, desires and these landscapes are iconic of what could be described as the condition that is the current state of our existence.
We live in an age where new technologies develop faster than our cultural or ideological capacity to understand what they mean. Due to this colossal scale of production & consumption of various items, the entire physical landscape is getting affected.
'waste is not only a pervasive, essential and constructive process of civilization; it is a key element in the way we consider, order and shape our landscape'.
Our collective Impacts are massive!
